HDDA UPDATE 2026

Afternoon Captains and Players Thursday 6th August 2026
As much as I shouldn't have to post this, as it applies to a very small minority of players, here we are. I've tagged all Captains or players who are on here when the Captain isn't
I'm unsure if it was the 2 full moons in July or what. I have received a few complaints, of which I have spoken to those who the complaint was about.
1 - Every complaint we receive is always the same thing-- people CANNOT keep their opinions to themselves and make a ridiculous comment that causes a reaction and then a drama which could have been avoided. Moving forward I am asking all Captains and Players as well, please keep your opinions to yourself and there will be no drama
2- Starting time, half of our venues have 7pm starting time which isn't a drama. Remember you can start when all players are ready and the sheet has been filled out regardless of what time it is.
I know of one game where the players sat around for 20 minutes then decided to start when all were already present.
Being ready to play when it is your turn to play seems to be a slight problem for again, a small minority of people. Have a look at the team sheet and see what game you are due to play in.
Having a go on the pokies, having a smoke etc, you need to look when you are up and if it is the last leg on a game being played you do NOT have time to do as I have mentioned above. The extra 10-15 minutes wait, I think you will be able to get through.
The Association has a 3 minutes to be ready to start rule, which is also a bit flexible if you are lined up to get a drink or collect your meal, common sense for this please.
If for whatever reason if a player is unable to play, move onto the next leg in order on the game sheet that can be played. The order of play then continues as per normal when player is available.
